Jillian Speaking at Learning Leaders’ Forum on June 4

May 28th, 2013

Jillian Douglas has been selected to speak at ASTD Cascadia’s Learning Leaders’ Forum, 2013 Training Trends to Watch.

This program may offer more value than many as we cover what learning leaders need to watch about 10 different topics. The program features a panel of three experienced people in our field and their insights about what’s happening on emerging trends. They’ll cover the material from a strategic rather than tactical perspective to meet the needs of learning leaders.

SAM, MOOCs, gamification, fast and lean, and tin can are all topics we’re hearing about, but what is relevant about these topics and what can be ignored? How are each of these trends developing? Who are experts on each topic and where can you get additional information that matters?

In this session, you’ll hear about these learning trends and five others. The focus is on what learning leaders need to watch or do about these topics and what we’ve learned as organizations implement these approaches or concepts.

This Month’s Topic: Grand Openings! Hooking Learners From the Very Beginning

With any training program you create, you’ve just got a few minutes to make your case. If your training doesn’t address this question, “Why should I spend my time on this?” you might as well be fishing on a frozen lake. How do you break the ice? How do you communicate the value of your training and the benefits it will provide for your learners? Bring your favorite example of an outstanding opening for a training program, either online or classroom style. We’ll share our examples and work together on a case study to turn a “bland opening” into a “grand opening.”

Jennie Thede from IdeaLearning Group will facilitate the free session. You can also participate or follow our live tweets @CollabLearn on twitter.

Registration is free but is required. Please give us 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel.
