IT Assurance is a managed IT Service Provider delivering on-demand, on-site computer and network services. IT Assurance engaged with Idea Learning Group to develop an onboarding program for new employees that would streamline the hire-to-productivity timeline and ensure customers would receive the high caliber of service associated with the IT Assurance brand.

Idea Learning Group quickly got to work scoping the pain points and identifying key needs within the organization. Idea Learning Group scheduled a meeting with senior management to look past the simple symptoms being reported and dig deeper to find root causes of onboarding problems. Based on a thorough analysis of the data gathered, the recommendation was to develop an Onboarding Toolkit.

The purpose of the Onboarding Toolkit was to meet the
following organizational needs:

Establish an efficient path to productivity for new employees where employees understand the following: expectations of their roles, company policy and procedures, and how to perform key tasks critical to
their position.

Build a consistent base of knowledge among employees ensuring a common understanding of appropriate and inappropriate attitudes, behaviors, and processes, thereby creating a uniform and world-class
customer experience.

Create a shared sense of identity where every new employee would understand the company’s history, purpose, values, and the significance of their role within the organization.

Idea Learning Group created a series of tools that were part of the overall Onboarding Toolkit including: interviewing and hiring guidelines, behavioral competencies, role-based checklists, observation forms, and an employee handbook. These tools have been implemented in the organization and have made significant improvements in the onboarding process.
